EXPERIENCE WHERE IT COUNTS

Today, more than ever, water is a much sought-after commodity. In additional to ensuring drilling accuracy it is vital that we are able to demonstrate to regulatory bodies that our clients are not squandering this precious resource and are working within the terms of their consent.

Barber Drilling works closely with a selection of ground water consultants, hydrologists, engineers and regulatory authorities to offer a full turn-key operation.

Owner Bruce Washington, has been actively involved in the drilling industry for the past 40 years at all levels of the business. His know-how and practical understanding of how to access water has flowed through to the wider team so you can be confident of achieving results.

We have an exemplary compliance and safety record and are a current member of the Australia and New Zealand Drilling Federations and an approved ECAN drilling services company.

OUR SERVICES

At Barber we specialise in the dual rotary method. Dual Rotary has been repeatedly proven to offer performance in unconsolidated ground conditions over conventional drilling. The versatility of our unique drilling rigs also make it one of the most efficient and cost effective methods for drilling holes in difficult formations.

In addition we also have experience in mud rotary, diamond core, cable tool and reverse circulation drilling for water well, piling and oil/mining exploration. Work includes the development, testing, monitoring and revitalization of water bores with depths in excess of 200m through to large scale industrial well drilling.

Water Well Drilling and Test Pumping

We can often tell you ‘how deep’ and ‘how much’ in advance. This helps set realistic goals and minimises any surprises.

With advanced dual rotary drilling rigs capable of drilling to a depth of over 300m, with well diameters from 150mm to 600mm we are able to offer:

  • more efficient drilling in hard formations

  • drilling through boulders without buckling or the need for blasting

  • simplified installation and welding of casing

  • accurate sampling of the formation being drilled

  • angle drilling

  • general versatility.

We only use thick-wall steel in our well formation which doesn’t buckle, so your well stays straighter, giving you a better quality and a longer-life. This was tried and proven in the Canterbury earthquakes.

All test pumping equipment meets ECAN specifications.

Well redevelopment and revitalisation

Demand for well maintenance and old well redevelopment is increasing as regulatory costs increase to control demand. Barber Drilling can video and test existing wells and find ways to help bring old wells back into useful production again.

These services include:

  • down-hole video

  • well monitoring and flow testing

  • well redevelopment; and

  • water testing.

We operate a Goldfields Cable Tool Drilling Rig specifically for this purpose and supply a digital recording of your well up to an underwater depth of 300m. This can show where rust might be occurring, whether there is damage to the well casing or the pump and if there is a problem with sediment. It can also work as a record of your well's performance.

All redevelopment work meets ECAN specifications.

Well Monitoring and consultation

Barber Well Drilling is the company of choice for ECAN and leading environmental consultants.

Our well monitoring data can include:

  • momentary flow

  • cumulative volume, and

  • comparisons of depth, flow and time.

All information is recorded and presented diagrammatically or as interval readings depending on the data requirement.

Our accumulative knowledge and expertise in understanding the interaction between the soil and the environment ensures that we can work with you to determine the most appropriate solution to your needs.
